Name: Natalya Arlovskaya
Gender: Female
Age: 14
Year: 4
Lineage: Pure-blood
House: Slytherin/Ravenclaw
Subjects:
- Potions
- Herbology
- Defence Against the Dark Arts
- Transfiguration
- History of Magic
- Astronomy
- Charms
- Care of Magical Creatures
- Study of Ancient Runes
Appearance:
Natalya's pale beauty is set off by her black robes and her platinum blonde locks are left free but for her white ribbon headband. When she looks up, people are usually stunned by her freezing blue eyes. Natalya wears thigh highs under her pleated skirt and sensible black shoes. Her hands remain gloved no matter the season, come winter or summer. She wears her uniform a little loose, all the better for hiding useful things, though she isn't allowed her knives at Hogwarts.
Pet: Vanya the Eurasian Eagle Owl
Personality:
Natalya generally keeps to herself, although she is never really able to fade into the background with her presence. Her quiet nature and expressionless face don't earn her many friends, and she is too reticent to approach them on her own. She works well enough by herself on her schoolwork, consulting the library when she needs to.
She is strongly independent, having been seperated from her family for a few years. Although her face is usually expressionless, her emotions are actually rather passionate beneath her placid demeanor. Once roused, her ire is as strong as any mother bear's, and as poisonous as any viper's bite, thanks to her family's insistence on a wide education as well as her own interest in all things dark.
Most notable of her emotions, is her love for Ivan, whom she calls brother although they are first cousins, having grown up with him. Her obsession with him often leads her to follow him discreetly through the day when she has no classes. She has to know who his friends are, what he's doing and his feelings for her. Although he denies feeling anything for her, she doesn't give up on proposing to him, though she does it less frequently, waiting for the day when he replies with a 'da'.
She does not hold the same opinions of her pureblood peers, that muggle blood should be eradicated. This does not mean that she sympathises with the muggle cause, it is simply her reasoning that anyone but Ivan Braginski is to be treated with equal disdain, as no one can compare to her dear brother.
Her outward calm draws animals to her, and her to them. However, her inner ferocity means that only the fiercer animals stay, and it is with them that she makes friends. She loves dragons especially, as they are the most magnificent and ferocious of the creatures. Serpents are her next favourite, for their poisons and their beauty. Her interest makes Care of Magical Creatures one of her best subjects, after Potions.
Dreams: Dragon Tamer
Other things:
Natalya's wand is twelve inches, with a core of dragon heartstring sheathed with willow. She owns a Nimbus 2000, which she doesn't care much for except its speed and stealth. She also owns many books, the dubious contents of which are hidden with spells keyed to her essence.
Sample Post:
At this time of day, the owlery was usually left to its residents while the students unpacked in their dormitories. However, footsteps echoed within its stone walls as a female student wandered about the owlery.
"Vanya," she called gently to the dozens of owl eyes staring at her. "Come here."
She held out her arm, already covered up to her forearm in a thick leather glove. Her owl obediently descended and took the perch, hooting to his owner. She cooed back at him, affectionately combing through his feathers before feeding him an owl treat.
"You know what to do, Vanya." Her lips curved into a rare smile as she handed him a letter, which he grasped delicately in his talons. She held her arm out so he could take off, then watched as the graceful raptor flew around the tower before flying to his destination.
She knew which direction he would take, having done this many times before. His flight took him in the direction of the Hufflepuff dormitories, where he would tap on the window and ask politely for entry, before giving the letter to one Ivan Braginski. Sometimes he would return with the letter unopened, other times he would return empty-handed.
Natalya waited to see if Vanya would return without the letter, and was disappointed when the owl returned with his important delivery. Sighing, she stroked his feathered head and reassured him that it was not his fault before taking the letter back. She would just have to deliver the letter personally then. She made her way down to the Hufflepuff dormitories, smiling a dark smile to herself.
